Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics 2017

Law Enforcement Torch Run ® for Special Olympics is an annual charity run that supports the sport development of persons with intellectual disabilities (ID). It is co-organized by Hong Kong Special Olympics, Hong Kong Sports Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability (Formerly HKSAM), Correctional Services Department, Customs & Excise Department, Fire Services Department, Government Flying Service, Hong Kong Police Force, Immigration Department, Independent Commission Against Corruption and Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Every disciplinary department head will be the sponsor of the event, setting role models for their fellows. Since 1989, LETR for Special Olympics has received support from all walks of life. The funds raised allow around 4,000 athletes to join the year-round sports training and competitions. They are also given opportunities to take part in the Special Olympics World Summer/Winter Games and other overseas competitions.

 

This year, the LETR for Special Olympics was held at the Sha Tin Sports Ground on 30 April, 2017 (Sunday) with Mr. LAI Tung-kwok, GBS, IDSM, JP, Secretary for Security as the officiating guest. The guest team also includes department head/representative of the participating law enforcement departments.
