2019 Special Olympics Hong Kong World Summer Games Flag Presentation HK Team

2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games flag presentation ceremony for the Hong Kong Delegation was held on 22 January 2019 at the Hong Kong Sports Institute. Guest of honour of the ceremony was Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin Chung, Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, GBM, GBS, JP, who was joined by Honorary Head of Delegation, Mr. David Ip, BBS, BH; Head of Delegation, Mrs. Laura Ling, BBS, MH; Deputy Head of Delegation, Mr. Yeung Tak Wah, MH, JP; and Deputy Head of Delegation, Dr. Evelyn Lam, to show their support for the athletes. At the ceremony, Mr. Cheung presented the HKSAR flag to the delegation representative.

The 103-member delegation (62 athletes, 21 coaches, 10 unified partners, 9 team officials and 1 medical personnel) of Hong Kong will join the Special Olympics World Summer Games taking place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 8 March to 21 March 2019 and participate across 10 athletic events.

Por Yen Charitable Foundation has donated HKD800,000 to the Special Olympics Hong Kong in support of the athletes. Dr Evelyn Lam, the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Por Yen Charitable Foundation, also serves as Deputy Head of Delegation, presented the cheque to Mr. David IP, BBS, BH, President of Special Olympics Hong Kong, at the ceremony.
