2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games (Los Angeles, LA)

As one of the members of the Honourable Guest Team of the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games , Dr. Evelyn LAM, Director of Por Yen Charitable Foundation, went to Los Angeles, the USA and attended the Games’ related functions. She also cheered for HKSO athletes at the competition venues during her stay.


The Special Olympics World Games is a world-class sporting event which promotes independence and confidence among persons with intellectual disabilities (ID).  Held every two years alternating between summer and winter, ID athletes all over the world participate in the World Games to demonstrate their athletic skills and celebrate the spirit of Special Olympics.  Hong Kong Special Olympics sent athletes to participate in the World Games in order to further develop their potentials in sports since 1979.  The theme for 2015 World Summer Games is "REACH UP",  representing Respect (R), Enthusiasm (E), Acceptance (A), Compassion (C) and Heart (H) for all people with intellectual disabilities an sharing the spirit of Unified Play (UP).
