The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA)

Scholarship Presentation and Donors’ Appreciation Gathering

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, established by Ordinance in 1984, is a leading tertiary institution in performing arts in Asia. It provides professional undergraduate education and practice-based postgraduate studies in Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, Theatre and Entertainment Arts and Chinese Opera. Its educational philosophy reflects the cultural diversity of Hong Kong with emphasis on Chinese and western traditions, and interdisciplinary learning.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Academy) today held its 2012/13 Scholarship Presentation and Donors' Appreciation Gathering in honour of individuals, companies, organisations, friends and Academy staff members for their generosity in making possible the award of more than 400 scholarships, studentships, and prizes totalling over HK$10 million to Academy students for the year 2012/2013.

The ceremony officiated by the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Mr. Raymond Young Lap-moon in the presence of Academy Chairman Mr. William Leung Wing-cheung, and Academy Director Professor Adrian Walter.

The awards are given to full-time, undergraduate Academy students for their leadership, academic excellence and contribution to community service. The recipients are from across six disciplines: dance, drama, film & television, music, theatre & entertainment arts, and Chinese opera.

The Lam family are long-standing supporters of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Por Yen Foundation has continued to take up this role.
