The Foundation was established in 2012 with the VISION of “helping others to help themselves” and the MISSION of “continuing the charitable legacy of Mr. Lim Por Yen in Greater China by supporting and developing self-sustaining activities with the maximum impact.”
The Board of the Foundation consists of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lester Lam Hau Yin, the Directors, Mr. Andrew Wells, Mr. Tsui Yuk Kit and Mr. Edward Wan. It is expected that Miss Evelyn Lam Oi Yi will be appointed to join the Board later this year. Between them, the members of the Board have extensive collective experience in charitable work, administration, commerce and heritage.
Details of the Foundation’s activities are to be found on this website. The organizations with whom we have worked successfully driving our first two years of operation include: The Hong Kong Vocational Training Council, The Child Development Matching Fund, Hong Kong Special Olympics, Hong Kong University SPACE, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Care Action, Camp Quality Hong Kong, The Guangzhou Municipal Public Welfare Foundation, Orbis and The Hong Kong Coalition for Professional Services.
In addition, we have established the Por Yen King Yin Lei Charitable Foundation Limited as a special purpose vehicle in a bid to work with the Government to open up the historic King Yin Lei mansion to the public for educational, cultural and recreational purpose, with the support of the Royal Commonwealth Society (Hong Kong) and the Chung Hwa Book Company.
We are now looking ahead proactively at fund raising and opportunities to meet the goals set by our Chairman and Board. We will always abide by the principle of “maximum impact” when assessing funding requests.
